Gillis Gilkerson Unveils 60 Completed Units in the Newly Renovated Samuel Chase Apartment Complex in Somerset County, Maryland

SALISBURY, MD – October 21, 2015 – Gillis Gilkerson, one of the most stable and trusted general contracting and construction management firms on Delmarva, announced the completion of sixty renovated units in the Samuel Chase Apartment Complex at 12354 Somerset Avenue, Princess Anne, Maryland.

Gillis Gilkerson completed interior and exterior work on nine of the buildings, constructed a new community building and laundry area. Interior renovations consisted of the installation of new HVAC units, hot water heaters, kitchen cabinets, appliances, bathrooms, carpet, sheet vinyl and painting.. Exterior building renovations consisted of the installation of new vinyl siding, windows, doors and roofing. Other site improvements included new concrete sidewalks, asphalt parking lots, landscaping and a community playground. When possible or specified Energy Star certified products were used.

The project is a joint effort between Gillis Gilkerson, the Department of Housing and Community Development and Green Street Housing.  The partners are working to rehabilitate residential space to provide safe and affordable housing for community members in Somerset County.

The wholesale renovation provides for a complete restoration of the entire building complex.  Gillis Gilkerson, also provided pre-construction expertise at the front end of the project when developers were looking for financing to support the renovations.
