Gillis Gilkerson Unveils 12 Completed Units in the Newly Renovated Samuel Chase Apartment Complex in Somerset County, Maryland

SALISBURY, MD – January 27, 2015 

Gillis Gilkerson, one of the most stable and trusted general contracting and construction management firms on Delmarva, announced the completion of twelve renovated units in the Samuel Chase Apartment Complex at 12354 Somerset Avenue, Princess Anne, Maryland. 

“We are very pleased with the progress being made on this project,” said Dwight Miller, president, Gillis Gilkerson.   “The Gillis team continues to turn over three units every ten days and is finishing up the community center.  At this rate we are looking at an on time delivery on a project deadline that delivers safe and affordable housing for community members in Somerset County.”

The project is a joint effort between Gillis Gilkerson, the Department of Housing and Community Development and Green Street Housing.  The partners are working to rehabilitate residential space to provide safe and affordable housing for community members in Somerset County.

The wholesale renovation provides for a complete restoration of the entire building complex.  Gillis Gilkerson, also provided pre-construction expertise at the front end of the project when developers were looking for financing to support the renovations.  Upgrades included the installation of new walls, flooring, lighting, bathrooms, kitchens and HVAC units.  Gillis Gilkerson is also building a new community center equipped with laundry services and maintenance space.  When possible or specified Energy Star certified products were used.   

According to Project Manager, Jason Rudd, the remaining 28 units and new 1,800 square foot community center is scheduled for a June 2015.
