Gillis Gilkerson Stabilizes the Old Mason Opera House in Snow Hill, Maryland

SALISBURY, MD – February 10, 2015 – Gillis Gilkerson, one of the most stable and trusted general contracting and construction management firms on Delmarva, announced the completion of renovations to stabilize the Old Mason Opera House on the corner of Washington Street and Snow Hill Road in Snow Hill, Maryland.  The 5,000 square foot opera house has been in a state of disrepair with a portion of the roof collapsing and caved in walls.

“The building is 100 years old and has continued to deteriorate for the last 40 years,” said Bob Donnelly, Snow Hill Public Works Director.  “To be honest, I wasn’t very positive about trying to save the building in the beginning.  I thought it was a waste of time and money.  When Gillis Gilkerson started working with our engineers and demonstrated experience with this type of project, I was relieved to say the least.  They had contractors lined up and everything went according to plan.  I would be tickled to work on another project with Gillis Gilkerson.” 

The Gillis team stabilized the building through repairs made to the foundation, the installation of a new roof on a section of the building and a new metal frame to support the walls.
