Gillis Gilkerson Plows Ahead to Stay on Schedule with 94 Guest Room Hotel in Rehoboth – April, 2014

3-21-14 progress photoGillis Gilkerson, one of the most stable and trusted general contracting and construction management firms on Delmarva, today announced the timely progress, despite what Mother Nature has delivered, on the Marriott Fairfield Inn & Suites in Rehoboth, Delaware.

“Our team has been diligent and determined to stay the course on this project,” said Michael Truitt, project manager, Gillis Gilkerson.   “A little winter weather is not going to stand in the way of meeting our   late summer, 2014 completion date.”

The four-story, 60,300 square foot structure, owned by Colonial Oaks Hotel, LLC, includes 94 guest rooms, meeting space, an indoor pool and  fitness room, a basement bar and lobby equipped to serve hot breakfast to guests.   The exterior is cladded with a combination of cementitious siding and EIFS to provide exterior walls with an effective insulated finished surface and waterproofing.

“Working with Gillis Gilkerson has been a wonderful experience,” said Christian Hudson, Hudson Management Group.  “The highly knowledgeable team has provided excellent service and is spot-on with the timeline and pricing for each phase of the project.”

The Marriott Fairfield Inn & Suites is the first hotel the Hudson Management Group will own and manage.  It is also the first time the Marriott brand will have a presence in Southern Delaware.  This particular franchise requires all bidding contractors be vetted and final approval given on the winning bid before ground is broken.

“When Marriott representatives found out we were looking to hire Gillis Gilkerson for the job, they gave their approval – no questions asked,” added Hudson.

“The original roof was only seven years old so finding out that we needed a whole new roof – the hard way – was disappointing. The team from Gillis Gilkerson addressed every single concern we had from the very beginning. They even called me on July 4th when we had bad storms in the area and asked if they could get inside the church to make sure everything was safe and secure. Now that’s commitment.”

~ Bruce Glisson,
Executive Pastor,
Allen Memorial Baptist Church

“When the Lower Shore Chapter of the American Red Cross’s office was broken into, we immediately called Gillis Gilkerson. They responded immediately and made all of the necessary repairs at no charge. It looked better than ever!”

“I want to commend and thank (Gillis Gilkerson) for your firm’s cooperation and commitment to the construction of the City’s new fire stations and headquarters facility … There’s no doubt in my mind that you have indeed established your credibility as a desirable vendor for future City projects. “Our interest was to find a company who could maintain the historic accuracy of the artifact installation, while being code compliant with confidence in the durability of the job done. Gillis Gilkerson met all three requirements and got the job done. We were very demanding from the beginning. We knew what we wanted and the Gillis team, led by Don Murray, was patient with us and delivered everything we wanted. It has been a very positive experience.”

~Jackie Noller,
Interim Vice President,
