Gillis Gilkerson Launches New Website & 30th Anniversary Logo
SALISBURY, MD – Gillis Gilkerson, one of the most stable and trusted general contracting and construction management firms on Delmarva, today announced the launch of its new website (www.gillisgilkerson.com) and an updated logo highlighting the company’s 30th anniversary.
“We are very proud to be celebrating 30 years of service and the completion of more than 1,300 projects across the Peninsula,” said Dwight Miller, president of the firm. “As we developed the website it was very exciting to review the scope and breadth of our work on Delmarva. It was a great opportunity to look back at what we have completed and to see where we are going.”
The website offers information about the company, its leadership, and community service, as well as a selection of case studies highlighting Gillis Gilkerson’s expertise in a variety of commercial real estate categories such as office, industrial, houses of worship, education, hospitals and healthcare.
Numerous testimonials, from companies and organizations such as PRMC, Draper Holdings/WBOC-TV, The Salisbury School, The United Way of the Eastern Shore and many others attest the company’s long-term impact on the region.
Gillis Gilkerson also unveiled its newly revised logo on the site. The highly recognizable blue rectangle logo, designed to the proportions of a cinder block – the “foundation” of many a project – now boasts a new yellow ribbon highlighting “Celebrating 30 Years.”
“When we launched the company in August of 1983, it was impossible to know for sure whether we’d be successful,” recalls company founder, Palmer Gillis, who today serves as chairman and CEO. “I am from Delmarva and I really wanted to serve this region, so we worked really hard and here we are, 30 years later, with a team of great people and a long list of completed and in-process projects. It’s been an enormously gratifying experience.”
In 1986, Gillis brought on Dwight Miller as an assistant estimator and construction coordinator; Miller is now president of the company. About the same time Gillis brought in James “J.B.” Barnes as a superintendent; today he serves as vice president. Original partner Tony Gilkerson, who joined Gillis in 1985, retired a few years ago.
The company has many projects currently underway, including the major expansion of Jubilant Cadista’s manufacturing and R&D facility in Salisbury, a New Marriot Fairfield Inn in Rehoboth Beach, Patsy’s Bridal Store in Downtown Salisbury (repurposing the old Ethan Allen Building), the new Animal Health Facility for the Salisbury Zoo (designed to achieve LEED certification,) and the renovation and expansion of the Henson Family YMCA.
The website was written and designed by a team from a.s.a.p.r. integrated marketing, Two Rider Design and Spotlight Web Design, all of Salisbury, MD.
