Gillis Gilkerson Fast Tracks Salisbury Planet Fitness Project to Complete Before Eight Week Deadline

 Planet FitnessSALISBURY, MD – June 6, 2014 – Gillis Gilkerson, one of the most stable and trusted  general contracting and construction management firms on Delmarva, announced the  completion of the custom fit out of the 17,500 square foot Planet Fitness gym in the  College  Square Shopping Center at 125 West College Avenue, Salisbury, Maryland.    The project was  fast tracked to meet an eight week timeline. Interior work was  complete in a little over seven  weeks and the fitness center doors opened for business  in November, 2013.  The Gillis  Gilkerson team recently added the final touches with the  installation of a handicap ramp  leading to the front entrance of the Fitness Center, to  enhance the entrance for all. 

  “When a franchise business purchases a property, we are at the mercy of their  timetable,”  said Don Murray, Gillis Gilkerson Project Manager.  “We knew the tenant  wanted the facility  operational within eight weeks so we committed the time and manpower necessary to deliver  the end product in less than the time allotted.”   

 The Gillis Gilkerson team reconfigured the front end of the building by installing steel beams and custom designed openings.  The complete interior fit out for the new fitness center included new HVAC systems, electrical and lighting systems, which included the installation of LED lighting, shower areas, relaxation areas and multiple audio video systems.  The building is also equipped with motion detectors and designated tanning rooms.
