Gillis Gilkerson Completes Renovations on Camp Raider JROTC Complex

SALISBURY, MD – August 27, 2014 – Gillis Gilkerson, one of the most stable and trusted general contracting and construction management firms on Delmarva, announced the completion of renovations made to the new Woodbridge Marine Corps JROTC’s Complex – Camp Raider.  The 4,800 square foot property covers three buildings on the Woodbridge School District property at 14714 Woodbridge High School Greenwood, Delaware 18950.

“EDiS Company has worked with Gillis Gilkerson on many projects,” said Diana Patille, EDiS Company, senior project manager.  “They consistently deliver on time, on budget and successful projects for our clients.  The Camp Raider Team did an excellent job on this very fast-paced, budget-driven contract.”

Renovations were completed on three modular units given to Woodbridge from Polytech School District to be earmarked as the future home of “Camp Raider.”  The fit-out included selective demolition, instillation of a new HVAC unit, fire alarm system, plumbing, electrical work, siding, roofing, interior finishes and door frames.  The compound is now equipped with an indoor shooting range, classroom space and outdoor drill area.

“Gillis Gilkerson is always pleased to have the opportunity to work on projects that create a positive impact our local schools,” said Dwight Miller, president, Gillis Gilkerson.  “The work we completed for the district helped create a face for the Camp Raider compound which ultimately helps instill a sense of pride for the students in the JROTC program.”

The work was completed within six months to meet the school district’s goal to open with the new $52.5 million Woodbridge High School for the start of the 2014-15 school year.

What Our Clients Say

“I am happy with the improvements being made by Gillis Gilkerson. Quality performance is a priority and they have exceeded our expectations even under a tight schedule. One would never know the units are thirty years old with the like-new reconditioned interiors.”

~ Tom Ayd,
Green Street Housing

“The building is 100 years old and has continued to deteriorate for the last 40 years. To be honest, I wasn’t very positive about trying to save the building in the beginning.I thought it was a waste of time and money. When Gillis Gilkerson started working with our engineers and demonstrated experience with this type of project, I was relieved to say the least. They had contractors lined up and everything went according to plan. I would be tickled to work on another project with Gillis Gilkerson.”

~ Bob Donnelly,
Snow Hill Public Works Director

“Without the professionalism and know-how of the Gillis Gilkerson team, all of our fundraising efforts would not have given us the final result of a beautiful symbol of our maritime heritage on the shores of the Choptank. The project’s unique design required an expertise and adaptation to construction in a maritime environment that Gillis Gilkerson was able to deliver.”

~ Jackalyn A. Noeller,
Choptank River Lighthouse, Cambridge, MD

“Our experience working with Gillis Gilkerson has been great. Between relocating our well, prepping the ground for the addition and assisting in researching our boundary lines, they didn’t waste any time in getting the project moving.”

~ Jennifer Small,
Managing Director,
Maryland Food Bank, Eastern Shore

“I want to take the opportunity to thank you and your staff for the outstanding job you have done despite many obstacles you faced (regulating authorities, weather, architectural nuances) … You managed to complete the project in time, on budget and with superior quality and elegance … You should know that your contributions are highly valued and praised.”
