Gillis Gilkerson Completes Phase III of Sussex Academy Renovation
SALISBURY, MD – December 1, 2015 – Gillis Gilkerson, one of the most stable and trusted general contracting and construction management firms on Delmarva, announced the completion of phase III of the Sussex Academy charter school renovation project at 21150 Airport Road in Georgetown, Delaware.
The 21,844 square foot project included the renovation of the school’s cafeteria, stage, library and kitchen in a one story block building.
“We value the quality educational surroundings our local schools strive to provide for our youth,” said Dwight Miller, president, Gillis Gilkerson. “Our team stuck to a tight schedule to cut down on interferences during the school year because we knew the Sussex Academy students and staff were anxious to get back to a productive learning environment.”
“We were very happy with the renovations Gillis Gilkerson made to the school,” said Patricia Oliphant, Ed.D., director of curriculum and instruction, Sussex Academy. “Mike and Daryl were great to work with. They were very responsive to our questions and made sure everything was done on time. Our students are enjoying the new theater and library and the staff is excited that we have a space where we can seat the entire student population.”
Gillis Project Manager, Michael Truitt and Project Superintendent, Daryl Mitchell completed the renovation project in 224 calendar days.
