Wayne Porter has dedicated over 35 years of his career to the construction industry – seven of those years have been spent with the Gillis Gilkerson team. As Operations Manager, Porter oversees the company’s crew of superintendents, helping to guide them through projects of all sizes. From small tenant fit outs to large scale housing developments and hotels, Wayne is vastly experienced in all facets of commercial construction.
“My team is made up of some of the best superintendents in construction on the Eastern Shore,” said Porter. “They are well versed, very customer oriented and build a high-quality product.”
Over the past year, Wayne has exemplified his ongoing commitment to safety in the workplace, repeatedly. Porter worked to ensure that every Gillis Gilkerson superintendent has completed the 30-hour certification course offered by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and is currently working on implementing additional safety measures to protect the health and wellness of crews in the face of COVID-19.
“I never stop learning. That’s what I love about my job.”
When he isn’t running around between jobsites, you can find Wayne spending time with his two grandsons, fishing and enjoying NASCAR.
