Devreco Partners with Gillis Gilkerson to Complete the New Johnny Janosik Store in Dover, Delaware

SALISBURY, MD – June 14, 2017 – Gillis Gilkerson, one of the most stable and trusted construction management and general contracting firms on Delmarva, announced the completion of the new 60,000 square foot Johnny Janosik World of Furniture Store at 4719 South Dupont Highway in Dover, Delaware. 

“We were fortunate to have the opportunity to work with both team Devreco and the Janosik family on the growth and expansion of their businesses in the Delaware market,” said Dwight Miller, president, Gillis Gilkerson.  “It is a great feeling to be a part of something that is helping a long standing family legacy continue to flourish and serve the community.”

The Gillis Gilkerson team, led by project manager Matt Esham, built the 1-story, 60,000 square foot structure to include natural stacked stone veneer and wood siding, metal panels and glass curtain walls. 

 “It is fascinating to watch the time lapse video we captured of the Gillis Gilkerson team building the new store,” said Joey Gilkerson with Devreco.  “No matter what Mother Nature threw at them, they did an exceptional job at building a state-of-the-art retail showroom for Johnny Janosik.”      

In 2015, Janosik stakeholders chose to consolidate two Dover store locations into one first class, contemporary furniture store. Through David Wilk at SVN Miller Commercial Real Estate, Devreco, a locally owned and operated full service development firm, approached the business and spent several months negotiating a lease from the Janosik family. 

The development team signed a sale leaseback agreement to purchase seven acres of land along Rt. 13 in Dover from the Janosik family to build the new store for Johnny Janosik World of Furniture. 

“The Johnny Janosik family made the business decision that their capital is better utilized to purchase furniture than to purchase real estate,” said Brad Gillis, Devreco.  “We stepped in and provided a comprehensive real estate solution.  From start to finish, we worked through the entire planning, approval and construction process on behalf of Johnny Janosik”
