Wicomico Yacht Club
Eden, MD

In December 2016, a two-alarm kitchen fire severely damaged the original Wicomico Yacht Club building. It was estimated that the clubhouse suffered $300,000 in structural damage and another $200,000 to its contents.
Shortly after the fire took place, Gillis Gilkerson’s construction team was hired to rebuild the structure. The new building is elevated six feet above the flood point and features a modern dining area and bar now serviced by a commercial-grade kitchen. The exterior is complete with a large deck and cantilevered walkway around the perimeter of the clubhouse. Gillis Gilkerson also installed a wheelchair lift to make the building accessible and compliant.
Gillis Gilkerson’s rebuild of the Wicomico Yacht Club restored a community hub along the Wicomico River. Since its grand opening, the facility has hosted countless community events and is a true asset to the Wicomico County area, any beyond. Project Manager Don Murray led Gillis Gilkerson’s onsite efforts and oversaw all aspects of the build.
