Emmanuel Wesleyan Church
Salisbury, MD

When Gillis Gilkerson was selected to build the largest worship center on the Delmarva Peninsula, they knew that building a 2,500 seat church would challenge their team.
The first challenge was not made of bricks and mortar: it was funding, as the church couldn’t build it all at one time. In response, the Gillis Gilkerson team broke the project into smaller, more manageable pieces, allowing the church to raise money over several phases.
The $6.5 million project was an addition to an existing structure, and everything was built with acoustics in mind. The large angled ceiling which slants up as it goes, allows the sound to travel all the way back to the rear of the facility where it gets absorbed by sound panels. The building also houses rooms for child care, Sunday school, administrative offices and more.
