Choptank Electric Cooperative Regional Service Center - Gillis Gilkerson, Inc.

Choptank Electric Cooperative contracted Gillis Gilkerson to construct their Regional Service Center in Salisbury, Maryland. The facility was designed by Davis, Bowen, and Friedel, Inc., a Delmarva Peninsula-based architectural firm, and now stands directly across from Wor-Wic Community College on Walston Switch Road. The new building houses the company’s redundant systems control room, member services center, and other departments in working in preparation to support the region’s future growth such as lineman training.

The Cooperative is also seeking Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED)’s Silver Certification, a designation honoring the building’s environmental conscientiousness. Choptank Electric Cooperative will also have an on-site solar field to help provide the energy needed to power the building in addition to other water efficiency technologies. Throughout the construction process, Gillis Gilkerson utilized low-emission materials and a construction waste management program in effort to contribute to their green initiative.

What Our Clients Say

“Gillis Gilkerson has completed three major projects on the Wor-Wic Community College campus since 2006 … We are extremely pleased with and proud of these buildings … beautiful facilities that function as planned … (and we) would be delighted to work with them again.”

~ Murray K. Hoy,
President,
Wor-Wic Community College

“The original roof was only seven years old so finding out that we needed a whole new roof – the hard way – was disappointing. The team from Gillis Gilkerson addressed every single concern we had from the very beginning. They even called me on July 4th when we had bad storms in the area and asked if they could get inside the church to make sure everything was safe and secure. Now that’s commitment.”

~ Bruce Glisson,
Executive Pastor,
Allen Memorial Baptist Church

“The building is 100 years old and has continued to deteriorate for the last 40 years. To be honest, I wasn’t very positive about trying to save the building in the beginning.I thought it was a waste of time and money. When Gillis Gilkerson started working with our engineers and demonstrated experience with this type of project, I was relieved to say the least. They had contractors lined up and everything went according to plan. I would be tickled to work on another project with Gillis Gilkerson.”

~ Bob Donnelly,
Snow Hill Public Works Director

“I want to take the opportunity to thank you and your staff for the outstanding job you have done despite many obstacles you faced (regulating authorities, weather, architectural nuances) … You managed to complete the project in time, on budget and with superior quality and elegance … You should know that your contributions are highly valued and praised.”

~ Nick Kypreos,
Chairman of the Board of Trustees,
Salisbury School

It has been 16-months since a fire totaled our clubhouse and we are now getting ready to open the doors to our new building and begin a new era at the Wicomico Yacht Club. The Gillis Gilkerson team was professional, constantly communicating with us and sticking to their very accurate timeline. We thank them for a job well done
