600 Glen Ave
Salisbury, MD

In March 2017, after years of sitting vacant, 600 Glen Avenue in Salisbury, Maryland was purchased by Gillis Gilkerson’s development
team. Where a vacant 160,000 square-foot government manufacturing facility once stood, now stands a multi-purpose, highly
frequented community center. From healthcare and fitness to self-storage and retail, the Glen Avenue building has a refound its
purpose and ability to serve the Wicomico County region through adaptive reuse. From start to finish, the redevelopment process
took three years and included façade updates and the installation of new parking lots fronting Glen Avenue.
The building’s anchor tenant, Pure Fitness, was the catalyst that prompted the redevelopment project enabling the building to
become what it is today. “Before moving to Glen Avenue, we were rapidly outgrowing a +/- 25,000 square foot unit on the west side
of town. Gillis Gilkerson helped us find a much larger space that fell within our budget. Given the extent of the building’s full-scale
renovation, we had a lot of room for customization and were able to maximize space and get really creative with the high ceilings
and open floor plan,” said Nick Taghipour, co-owner, and operator of Pure Fitness.
Pure Fitness currently occupies +/- 60,000 square feet. The remaining tenants include Peninsula Orthopedic Associates (POA),
Valucentric, Capital Women’s Care, Willow and Mane Salon, and CubeSmart Self Storage— a +/- 70,000 square foot, 550 unit coanchor tenant. 600 Glen Avenue is now a highly-valued community asset that serves hundreds of Delmarva residents each day.
